So in March 2018, I have come back to Photography and video. After selling my Canon gear for my motorcycle I decided to to come back to Photography because I really miss taking pictures of people and events. So I have been researching about the Sony brand. I have become very impressed how far Sony camera has gone and I decided after a long time researching I bought the Sony Alpha A6500, 3 different lens, DJI Osmo Osmo Mobile and I have ordered the Zhiun Crane v2 for the Sony camera. With the purchase of the Sony camera means more expensive and harder choices of lenses for the camera. There isn't a wide selection like Canon and Nikon but never or less more people buy Sony the more lenses will come out. Sigma has released a statement they are going to start making E-Mounts for the Sony brand. Which says even Sigma is noticing the market is shifting from DLSR camera to more mirrorless cameras. To my view, I feel Canon and Nikon haven't been competitive enough to push the camera technology. At the moment I have had the camera for the week and I am impressed with the video and pictures but I am still getting use to the camera and setting. I am going to start making two photography projects and one video project at one time to get more practice. With the gimbal equipment, I am hoping to gain and learn experience and take a lot of learning from Youtube. Now what I am hoping to do is compared to the Canon 7D Mk ii camera I am going to buy more prime lenses with the Sony. The zoom lenses I am not convinced yet until the market becomes more demanding. My goal right now is getting used to the Sony and work on projects and study for the FAA Part 107. This way I can use the drones to the Celtic Arms Imagery work when I want too. I am also planning to buy once I have the Part 107 a DJI Mavic Pro Platinum because it's small and far quieter than the big brother Phantom 4 Pro. DJI has made some improvements to cut doing the noise from the Mavric drones and for me taking video with horses would be better. Or do wedding in the future means people will not get distracted by the noise as much too. I will also get the Phantom 4 Pro for the bigger sensor to take even better video and even in the lower light situation. These are future goals and I have more equipment in mind when I grow with my skills but one thing at the time. So never or less I am back around and I am looking forward to warmer weather.

As you may of gathered. Christopher is my six year old son and over the weekend I was having a lot of fun taking some pictures. He also tries to keep up with me taking random pictures with his own camera (Canon SX30is) of dirt, tree, me or even poop (Yes he had a good interest at a horse farm taking pictures of horse poop). I am hoping as he is 6 years old to take more interest in photography and "work with me" at horse shows or different events. Once I have more lenses in my arsenal (I have only got 50 mm f1.8 lens). I be able to take up some more work. Mean while I am trying to get max use out of this lens as I have broken the other equipment. In the mean time I am happy that my son loves to work with me. This helps me to practice and make use what ever light I have. These pictures taken below with my Canon 7D Mk ii So the pictures below are my son pictures. I did not take these but as I was going through the SD card. I found a lot of pictures he has taken over time. I most say some pictures he has taken last year were pretty good for a 5 year old at the time..
I have a Canon 7D Mk ii and the lens that sits on the camera is Canon 70-200 mm f4 lens. Used for sport (Equine). Both costing together $2100 brand new. I have a back pack to hold the camera with few bits and pieces. On Tuesday I went up to Fairfield, Me with a friend Stefani. I went up with her to give her company as the trip north and back can be boring. While I was up there I was at someone house and I wanted to take a few pictures of a old dog. So I went out to the car to grab the bag. Sadly I forgot to zip up the main pocket because I have it ready to take the camera out if I see wild life. As I have forgotten to zip it up and thrown the bag on my back. The camera and lens flew out of the side and fell on the ground. As I turned around I see the camera and a broken lens. Now with the value of the equipment I calmly freaked out with a few choice words under my breath. I felt like a right fool but angry as well for failing to secure the camera.
Always secure your equipmentSo what ever bag or case you have. Always secure it no matter what. I have learnt this the hard way and I think I made this mistake because I was very tired and there for I was not thinking straight. I am thinking of investing in a hard case for my equipment now on. Maybe get drop insurance too.
So other day I went out side to have fun with Sophie. a friend of mine Stefani dog. Sophie is such a cute little pup who is 6 years old. Here a few pictures killing time for the day! I think Sophie will be my little model do you agree? Spent the morning to take some pictures for my friend Allison & Zayda. It was just breaking into warm weather but sadly we could not do it very long because the area was invested in ticks. Also taking this time to get use to the new camera Canon 7D Mk ii. New Equine PhotographyThe New Equine Photography was started as a sub site of New Equine (newequine.net). The New Equine project was listing every barn and equine related business across New England. Which the project has been going for over seven years. The photography helped to spread awareness of this site and worked really well. With the internet been better with the information like Google Maps and Facebook. I felt the time and energy was been wasted. So I have picked up a new project into photography where I can focus at one event at a time. I wanted to aim for general public than just focusing on the equine community. I have learned a lot over the two years with trail and error. Other photographer I known for years has helped me with great tips and info. Like Polar Square Designs (Kate) She is the most inspiring photographer I know. She give classes on DLSR for anyone who wants to pick up photography. Also Sam Nappi Photography who shared her work and art. Celtic Arms ImageryCeltic Arms Imagery is a fresh start of 2017. I got a new Canon 7D Mk ii and working on future projects to help my skills grow. I came up with this name "Celtic" because I am Scottish, "Arms" because my last name is Armstrong and "Imagery" because I will do Photography, Videogrpahy and Aerial work when I require a new drone.
As the name has changed so has my ambitions to be more creative and more supportive in different communities and organizations that help Society. I like to take my time and skills what ever I have to help give to the people. I have been doing this for two year and I will continue to offer support to help people and organization grow as well. Mean while I have a Youtube Channel for CAI and main gallery that will show 2015, 2016 and this year pictures. |
